According to an article from the media outlet El Oriente, with the aim of exploring investment opportunities and technological cooperation that contribute to the development of Ecuador’s export supply, representatives from the Corporation of Exporters’ Guilds of Ecuador (Cordex) held a bilateral meeting with executives from the Bank of China.
According to Cordex members, the Bank of China representatives proposed and presented financial options to modernize production processes, facilitate the incorporation of advanced technologies, develop traceability and sustainability standards, and offered lines of credit.
Cordex representatives pointed out that, within the context of international markets, these components are increasingly demanded in all types of foreign trade.
It was reported that Luis Alberto Jaramillo, Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments, and Fisheries of Ecuador, also participated in this bilateral meeting. According to Cordex, he highlighted the importance of creating “public-private synergies to attract financing and innovation toward the productive sectors that support the country’s economy.”
On behalf of the People’s Republic of China, in addition to the Bank executives, regional directors from the telecommunications and technology company Huawei were present. They presented options and solutions for autonomous electricity generation to ensure connection and continuous operation in Ecuador’s productive areas, especially in locations with limited energy infrastructure.
Last but not least, Cordex representatives stated that the Bank of China appears as a key strategic partner to boost investments that contribute to improving the efficiency of the South American country’s export sector, reducing costs, and increasing the added value of its products in foreign trade.
