Mexico raises tariffs on Chinese imports, sparking Beijing’s response

Analysts warn the tariff hike could slow Mexico’s electric vehicle market, raise consumer costs, and strain ties with Beijing, a key trade and investment partner. Sheinbaum insists the aim is to “strengthen domestic production,” yet the move adds uncertainty for businesses and heightens geopolitical tensions.
