The Chinese firm China Harbour Engineering Company Limited Colombia (Chec) has submitted a prefeasibility proposal to extend Bogotá Metro's Line 1 to Calle 100. The document, filed with the Bogotá Metro Company (EMB), is part of a Private Initiative Public-Private Partnership (PPP-PI) project. According to Bogotá's City Hall, this marks the first time a private initiative PPP has been presented for a metro-railway project in Colombia.

The proposal aims not only to extend Line 1 but also to integrate it with the feeder corridor on Avenida 68 at Calle 100 and Avenida 1 de Mayo. It also envisions a connection with the Regiotram del Norte project at Autopista Norte with Calle 94 and NQS, while helping to decongest the busy Calle 72 transit node. This initiative aligns with the District Development Plan, which prioritizes expanding the metro-railway public transport system and exploring new funding sources.

City Hall emphasized that this proposal reflects the trust international firms place in the district administration and the EMB, encouraging investments to improve urban mobility. Currently, the Bogotá Metro Company is reviewing the proposal’s feasibility and has a three-month window to respond to Chec with a decision on whether to proceed to the feasibility stage.
