According to a report by Agrositio, Yván Gil, Minister of the People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, signed a new agreement with the People’s Republic of China that will allow the export of Venezuelan mung beans to the Asian country.

The agreement was signed by Minister Gil on behalf of Venezuela, while Sun Meijun, Minister and Secretary of the Communist Party Committee in the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, participated on behalf of China, accompanied by a team of senior officials.

It is known that this agreement stems from the All-Weather Strategic Partnership maintained by both countries, aimed at developing and expanding the commercialization of Venezuelan products in the Chinese market, which is considered the largest consumer market in the world.

It is worth noting that mung beans are highly valued in the People’s Republic of China for their nutritional properties and medicinal use. In response to this demand, Venezuela successfully exported 100,000 tons of mung beans in 2024.

Regarding the signing of the bilateral agreement, Minister Gil stated: “From this moment on, our producers have access to the markets, to the great Chinese market to export this important product. In addition to that, avocado, coffee, cocoa, all fish species, and shrimp are now included.”

Last but not least, the minister emphasized that Venezuela is entering the Chinese market with significant impact, highlighting the efforts of the country’s food export sector, as well as the diplomatic team responsible for building these relations with the Asian nation.
