On June 22, 2022, the Vice President of Nicaragua, Rosario Murillo, welcomed the new ambassador of the People's Republic of China, Chen Xi, together with his wife, Xhang Qing. The Chinese diplomat had just landed in Managua, Nicaragua, and was received by Nicaraguan authorities.
Chen Xi made the following statement: "It is a great honor and pleasure to serve as the first ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Nicaragua after the reestablishment of our diplomatic relations" (Noticias Barquisimeto, 2022). It should be noted that Mr. Chen Xi's credentials have not yet been submitted.
