On August 27, 2025, Nicaragua 's diplomatic mission in Beijing held a bilateral meeting with Zhang Run, Director General for Latin America and the Caribbean at China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Ramiro Cruz conveyed warm greetings from President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo to President Xi Jinping, the Chinese Communist Party, and the people of China.

Zhang expressed appreciation for the gracious reception he received during his visit to Managua in July 2025, highlighting Nicaragua’s development progress and dynamic economic activity. He reaffirmed the growing diplomatic and political cooperation, anchored in a Strategic Partnership, which includes a cooperation memorandum between the FSLN and the Communist Party of China and the successful hosting of the 17th China-CELAC Business Summit in Managua, along with increasing intergovernmental and party-level exchanges.

Ambassador Cruz reiterated Nicaragua’s firm commitment to the “One China” policy and its support for China’s sovereign right to national reunification. Both parties agreed on the importance of reinforcing mutual political support and working together to build a community with a shared future for humanity, grounded in friendship, solidarity, and international cooperation.

The meeting takes place within the context of the recent strengthening of economic relations between the Central American country and the People’s Republic of China, marked by new mining concessions and increased trade flows.
