As part of the re-establishment of the diplomatic situation between Nicaragua and the People's Republic of China (PRC), a series of agreements have been signed to benefit the Central American country. Among these is the "great housing program" that has been underway since February 2022.

Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo confirmed on official media that PRC support will amount to 400 million Chinese yuan for this project, equivalent to approximately 60 million dollars. Murillo also clarified that the resources used for the housing program will be financed by the China International Development Cooperation Agency.
