According to an article from Air Cargo News, the company Lufthansa Cargo Servicios Logísticos de México (LCSLM) and the Chinese firm Shanghai Pudong International Airport Cargo Terminal Co. Ltd (PACTL) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at contributing to the development of cargo services between Mexico and the People's Republic of China.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding responds to the high and growing demand for cargo services between the two countries.
As mentioned, the memorandum was signed by LCSLM and PACTL, both of which are part of the Lufthansa Cargo group. The agreement was formalized during the Air Cargo Europe exhibition and will lead both companies to focus on the development of e-commerce and other key import products relevant to Mexico and China.
This strategic agreement will also focus on increasing cargo operations, contributing to the rise in cargo flight frequencies between the two countries.
This objective would involve both national and international airlines operating in the sector, supporting the development of favorable regulatory conditions and promoting joint coordination within the Lufthansa Cargo group.
The partnership also seeks to develop logistics for exports and imports between Mexico and China, which will allow for more reliable cargo transfers and support bilateral trade.
The group’s partners stated that “special emphasis will be placed on facilitating the e-commerce supply chain between the two countries and improving the handling of key imports to China, including perishables, pharmaceuticals, and other high-value goods.”
Both companies will also undertake joint initiatives on branding and business development, allowing for knowledge exchange on terminal construction, operations, ground handling efficiency, infrastructure, and planning.
Frank Nozinsky, Managing Director of LCSLM, stated that they are “pleased to sign this memorandum of understanding with PACTL to strengthen air transport connectivity between Mexico and China.”
He also noted that in recent months they have “witnessed a significant increase in trade volumes between our two countries, driven by changes in global supply chains and evolving geopolitical dynamics. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting this growth through enhanced terminal cooperation and operational synergy.”
Carsten Hernig, Deputy General Manager and Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Production at PACTL, stated that this new partnership with LCSLM represents progress in the company’s international expansion.
He added, “Together, our goal is to build a faster and more reliable cargo channel to meet the changing needs of global trade and deliver lasting value to our customers. We are looking forward to the opportunities this collaboration will bring.”
