Latin America's consumption of New Energy Vehicles has recently increased, with Chinese-imported electric vehicles having been widely accepted by the region's population. In the case of Mexico, for example, the population has sought to reduce its carbon footprint, and NEVs (New Energy Vehicles) imported from the People's Republic of China have served as a good alternative for this purpose. Another example is Costa Rica, where the Costa Rican Post Office has been looking to replace its fleet with electric vehicles in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and Chinese electric cars have been its best option.

In addition to the high demand for electric vehicles mentioned above, there is an increase in demand for lithium batteries. Lithium prices have been rising globally, creating a complex situation for Chinese energy and automotive companies, as they have had to cut costs in their supply chains in order to keep the prices of their products stable. According to Soc. Química y Minera de Chile SA, lithium prices are expected to continue to rise steadily throughout this year.
