Bachelet visited the People’s Republic of China

Michelle Bachelet, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, began a six-day official mission to the People's Republic of China (PRC) at the invitation of the Chinese government. This is the office's first visit to the PRC since 2005.

During the visit, Bachelet met with government authorities and civil society actors from different parts of the Asian country, as well as with people from the business sector and several academic institutions. She also gave a lecture to students at Guangzhou University (Guangzhou), and visited the cities of Kashgar and Urumqi.
