The Ecuadorian National Police and the Chinese Embassy in Quito have launched a second Mandarin language course tailored for 58 Ecuadorian officers. This six-month program aims to enhance communication between the police and Ecuador's Chinese community, fostering security and cultural understanding. Native instructors from the Siyuan Chinese Language Academy will lead the training, with classes available for both beginners and officers with prior experience in Mandarin.
At the opening ceremony, Wei Lin, Political Counselor at the Chinese Embassy, underscored the importance of cultural learning in strengthening cooperation between the two nations. She highlighted Ecuador's appeal as a destination for Chinese tourists and businesses, expressing gratitude to the Ecuadorian police for their commitment to ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens and over 90 Chinese companies operating in the country.
Colonel Patricio Almendaris noted that proficiency in Mandarin will help officers perform preventive work and better assist Chinese residents and tourists. Scheduled from November 6, 2024, to May 12, 2025, the course includes specialized terminology and practical dialogues suited to police needs, allowing officers to apply their skills in real-world situations.
