Santo Domingo's Chinatown has become an important cultural meeting point between China and the Dominican Republic. Inaugurated in 2008, the neighborhood has restaurants offering both Chinese and Dominican dishes, as well as supermarkets selling Chinese products, a temple, and a Chinese language school. There are also fairs every weekend where visitors can learn about Chinese culture and cuisine, and there are parks and fountains where people can relax.

Santo Domingo's Chinatown is a living testimony of the union and cultural exchange between the Dominican Republic and China that began with its inauguration in 2008 during the second administration of then President Leonel Fernandez. Since then, the place has served as a meeting point for the Chinese community in the Caribbean country, as well as a place of transmission of Chinese and Dominican culture. Rosa Ng Baez, daughter of a Chinese father, was a key figure in the creation of Santo Domingo's Chinatown, thanks to her passion and perseverance to become the owner of the Wu Asian restaurant and a cultural promoter of festivities such as the Chinese New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival.
