According to an article from the media outlet Excelencias News Cuba, on June 12 of the current year 2025, the Cuban government officially inaugurated the Cuban Cultural Center in Zhejiang Province, in the People's Republic of China.

This new cultural institution aims to serve as a comprehensive platform that contributes to the development and promotion of Cuban culture, art, literature and folk music in the People's Republic of China.

Regarding this inauguration, Alberto Blanco, Cuba’s ambassador to the People's Republic of China, emphasized that the Cuban Cultural Center aims to protect, showcase and promote the tangible and intangible heritage of the Caribbean country.

He also highlighted the importance of this new project, stating that it will help strengthen cultural ties between both nations, allowing the population of the Asian country to learn more about and interact with the Caribbean nation.

In addition, in a video, he acknowledged the contribution of Huang Qiaoming, president of the Platform for Investment and Trade with Latin America (PICLA), and invited those present to actively participate in the activities organized by the Center to foster knowledge about Cuban culture, art and music.

For her part, Mileidy Aguirre, Consul General of Cuba in Shanghai, highlighted the bilateral cooperation between the two nations, which has facilitated the dissemination of Cuban culture in the Asian continent. She also expressed her hope that the people of Zhejiang, especially the youth, engage more with Cuban traditions and become familiar with some of the most representative Cuban products, such as coffee and rum.

Similarly, Consul Aguirre recalled the bilateral ties between both nations, noting that they date back to 1847, when the first migrants from the People's Republic of China arrived in Cuba.

She also commented that cultural exchanges are a key component of bilateral relations and cooperation, and reminded that Cuban identity has been influenced by the Chinese community.

Last but not least, it is worth mentioning that, although bilateral ties between both nations have existed since the 19th century, it was not until 1960, specifically on September 2, that the two countries established formal diplomatic relations and began their bilateral cooperation based on the principle of mutual diplomacy.
