Colombia's Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism has initiated an administrative investigation to assess the possible existence and effects of dumping in the imports of suspension-type PVC resins from the United States and China. These resins, which fall under a specific subheading (3904.10.20.00), are used for various purposes in the market. Dumping is defined as the practice of selling a product at a lower price in a foreign country than in the country of origin, which can harm domestic production.
The investigation was initiated following a request submitted by Mexichem Resinas Colombia S.A.S., which pursues anti-dumping measures against these imports due to the significant increase in dumping prices and their negative impact on the domestic industry. It is also worth noting that other countries, such as Egypt, Morocco, India, and Turkey for the United States, and Pakistan and India for China, have implemented anti-dumping measures on similar products, according to the World Trade Organization (WTO). The investigation is expected to yield results within the next 6 to 12 months.
