Colombia’s Agriculture Minister Aims to Forge Closer Ties for Agricultural Products with China

Sebastian Castaño Palacio

Colombia's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jhenifer Mojica, visited China to strengthen trade relations and diversify the destinations for Colombian agricultural and agro-industrial exports. Currently, 66% of exports in this sector are concentrated in the United States and Europe. The minister emphasized the importance of enhancing trade and diplomatic relations with Asia.

As part of her agenda, Jhenifer Mojica participated in the Global Soil Health Forum 2023, an event that brought together representatives from various countries, academics, and entrepreneurs to discuss the impacts on soil due to adverse climate effects. The purpose of the event is to advance collaborative actions to address climate change and safeguard food security, thus contributing to the goals of the United Nations. The minister will also undertake other activities during her visit to China, including an exploration of the Land Protection and Quality Improvement Innovation Center in Yangling.
