Colombia has been officially named Guest of Honor at the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), to be held in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, 2025. The announcement was confirmed by Colombia’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and has been celebrated as a milestone in the country’s international commercial outreach.

The CIIE is the largest import-focused trade fair in China and one of the most important global events for showcasing foreign products and services. This year’s edition is expected to attract over 150 participating countries and around 400,000 buyers, making it a powerful platform for deepening economic ties with China.

As Guest of Honor, Colombia will have a special national pavilion promoting its non-traditional exports, including coffee, flowers, cacao, food products, pharmaceuticals, and green technologies. The country will also host business forums, cultural events, and high-level meetings aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment.

This recognition highlights the strengthening relationship between Colombia and China, which established diplomatic ties more than four decades ago. In recent years, China has become Colombia’s second-largest trading partner, and a growing destination for its non-mining exports.

Colombian authorities see the CIIE as an opportunity to position the country as a reliable, sustainable supplier in global value chains. Through this event, Colombia also seeks to attract foreign investment and promote its international image as a strategic economic partner in Latin America.

The national participation is being organized by the Ministry of Trade, ProColombia, and the Colombian Embassy in Beijing, in collaboration with national business associations.
