In 2019, the Chinese electronic equipment company, Xiaomi, opened its first store in Chile, allowing it to enter the South American market, and outperform brands such as Apple, Lenovo, and Huawei.

In 2021, Xiaomi saw a 201% growth in terms of sales compared to the previous year. In the last quarter of 2021, the company grew by 46%, leaving the technology company with a market share of 21% in Chile. The commercial director of Xiaomi in Chile, Martín Castro, pointed out that, even though the brand is relatively new in the country and considering the market-related problems associated with the pandemic, the Chinese company was able to focus its services and products online. To maintain this growth, the company intends to open two new stores to continue positioning itself in the Chilean market.
