Chile continues to be the world's leading cherry producer, driven by Chinese consumption. The president of the Chilean Federation of Fruit Producers (Fedefruta), Jorge Valenzuela, highlighted the following: "We continue to be number one. We represent 95 percent of the production in the southern hemisphere; in other words, we are very large-scale cherry producers.”

The high-level representative of Fedefruta highlighted that this product has a lot of added value, as arriving fresh in 25 or 30 days to China and being consumed in Shanghai, Hong Kong or Beijing is a record. Exports of Chilean cherries to the Asian country have also increased between 2017/2018 and 2021/22.
