Leaders around the world congratulated Luiz Inácion Lula da Silva on his victory as the new president of Brazil. Among them was the PRC’s leader, who sent his congratulations through the country’s Foreign Ministry. It is worth noting that relations between these two countries cooled during Jair Bolsonero's term in office.

In statements reported by the AFP news agency, PRC Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said: "We are looking forward to working with the new Brazilian government led by Lula to take the overall strategic relationship between China and Brazil to a new level, and better benefit the two countries and their peoples."
