Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has entered into a strategic collaboration with Brazilian energy company Raízen to expand clean energy generation capacity in the South American country. The agreement will see the construction of nine solar power plants in different regions of Brazil.
The solar farms will be developed in states such as Ceará, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte and Pará, and will have a total capacity of 26.5 megawatts, enough to supply more than 27,000 people or 5,500 households per month, based on average consumption. The energy generated will be fed into the grid and shared with Raízen's and its partners' grids, resulting in savings on energy bills.
In addition, the alliance between the two companies includes other initiatives such as the construction of electric vehicle charging centers under the public brand Shell Recharge, with the installation of 600 fast charging points in eight Brazilian capitals over the next three years.
BYD, the world's largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, has consolidated its presence in the energy sector by bringing its expertise in green technology and the implementation of renewable energy projects throughout the region.
The collaboration between BYD and Raízen aims not only to promote the adoption of electric vehicles and clean energy generation, but also to enhance the user experience through a robust charging infrastructure and a digital platform focused on electromobility.
Ricardo Mussa, CEO of Raízen, emphasized that this alliance aims to make electric mobility and renewable energy solutions more accessible and attractive to the Brazilian market, thus contributing to a more sustainable future.
