An Argentine military delegation will travel to the People's Republic of China in March as part of a bilateral defense cooperation agreement which, among other issues, includes the purchase of Chinese fighter jets.

According to the 2022 Budget Bill, more than USD$600 million has been earmarked for the purchase of such equipment. The military delegation is considering five bids, but at the top of the list is the purchase of 12 JF-17 Thunder-Block III supersonic aircrafts. It is also considering an additional $20 million for the purchase of other equipment such as flight simulators, the purchase of 8x8 vehicles for the Army, and a polar ship for Antarctic campaigns and rescue helicopters.
