This initial shipment was agreed at a base price of $360 per ton and is expected to arrive in about two and a half months, in September, with its destination being China’s Guangdong Province.
Currently, the People’s Republic of China is the world’s largest consumer of protein-rich raw materials for animal feed. However, a significant portion of its domestic production relies on crushed soybeans imported from the United States and Brazil.
In recent months, Chinese producers have increased purchases of Brazilian soy as an alternative, due to the trade conflict with the United States, which has resulted in high tariffs on goods entering or leaving the Asian country.
