February 1, 2022, marked the Chinese New Year, a traditional holiday of great importance in the Chinese calendar. This commemoration is full of tradition, culture, and family togetherness. Bogotá (Colombia) was one of the cities in Latin America and the Caribbean that joined the celebration. The Colombian capital also took the opportunity to celebrate 42 years of diplomatic relations with the Asian country.

Bogota held various activities, including workshops, talks, artistic and cultural exhibitions. The Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo and the Confucius Institute of the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University took part in these events in recognition of their cultural, artistic, culinary, and economic contributions. Some of these events were also broadcast by Canal Capital, a free-to-air television channel that broadcasts programs in the metropolitan area of Bogotá and the department of Cundinamarca.
