According to an official statement from the Venezuelan government, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, Sectoral Vice President for Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, held a bilateral meeting with Jin Lin, Vice President of the Chinese company iFLYTEK, in which they discussed bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence.
The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Science and Technology, with the attendance of various representatives from the ministries of Defense, Communication and Information, Health, Higher Education, Hydrocarbons and Ecosocialism.
According to Vice President Jiménez, these are the first ministries that, by order of President Nicolás Maduro, will join the implementation of this agenda for cooperation in artificial intelligence.
She also emphasized that technology will be crucial in strengthening the Venezuelan government’s capacity in its pursuit of security, peace and the well-being of its people, contributing to the development of national stability.
Specifically, Jiménez stated: “How we can have a tool that enhances our government’s information in terms of well-being, peace and security for our people is fundamental for the country’s stability. It can also be used to strengthen our level of identity with our people.”
In the context of this meeting, Vice President Jiménez highlighted the existing bilateral relations between Venezuela and the People’s Republic of China, as well as the All-Weather and All-Round Strategic Partnership signed in 2023 by the leaders of both nations.
She also stated that this new joint agenda for cooperation in the artificial intelligence sector, as well as in scientific development, will contribute to the technological advancement of both countries.
For her part, Jin Lin, Vice President of the Chinese company iFLYTEK, commented that currently, with the aim of ensuring the cybersecurity of nations and seeking to inhibit and detect false information, the most advanced technologies, as well as artificial intelligence, will be essential.
