According to an article by Prensa Latina, Óscar Mojica, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Nicaragua, led a delegation from his country to the People’s Republic of China to attend the China-LAC Infrastructure Forum and the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum.
During his remarks, Minister Mojica highlighted various projects in Nicaragua, including the Punta Huete International Airport, the modernization of Puerto Corinto, the development of the deep-water port in Bluefields, the implementation of the Nuevas Victorias housing program, and the establishment of an intelligent logistics center.
In addition, Minister Mojica emphasized the transformative potential of the Nicaragua Interoceanic Grand Canal, presenting it as a key project that will contribute to the development of connectivity and bilateral trade between Central America, Latin America, and China.
It is known that the Nicaraguan delegation, led by Minister Mojica, held several bilateral meetings with companies from the People’s Republic of China, which are currently involved in major infrastructure projects in Nicaragua.
Regarding these bilateral meetings, an official statement from the Government of Nicaragua stated that they are of great importance, as they contribute to practical cooperation, enhance exchanges between the two nations, and open opportunities for the joint development of housing, road, airport, energy, and port infrastructure projects.
Likewise, in the same statement, the Nicaraguan government mentioned that the active participation of the Central American country’s delegation in these forums reaffirms the government’s commitment to improving the well-being of its citizens through strategic partnerships that can attract foreign investment, strengthen national production capacities, and connect local producers with key global logistics hubs.
These forums, attended by the Nicaraguan delegation led by Minister Óscar Mojica, are held annually by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce of China, the China International Contractors Association, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
Last but not least, it is worth noting that the forums concluded on Thursday, June 12, with the participation of more than 70 countries, most of which were represented by ministers and vice ministers. In addition, several construction companies and international financial institutions were present.
