President Xi Jinping sent Han Jun, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as his representative to attend the inauguration ceremony of Uruguay's new president, Yamandú Orsi, who was sworn in before the General Assembly on Saturday. This official event took place at Palacio Estévez in Montevideo. The President of Uruguay was accompanied by Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin and Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Alfredo Fratti.

Considering 37 years of diplomatic relations established in 2025, Uruguay and China plan to maintain their strategic partnership, especially with the presidential transition. During the meeting, Minister Han Jun and President Yamandú Orsi discussed bilateral diplomatic relations and the agenda on international matters of common interest.
