On November 10, the School of Politics, Government, and International Relations at Argentina's Universidad Austral held a lecture entitled: "Argentina and China, the comprehensive strategic partnership and the Huawei case as a technological challenge for telecommunications in the post-pandemic world." The talk focused on the opportunities for cooperation between China and Argentina to enhance technology, especially in the South American country.
The talk was moderated by Alejandra Conconi, Executive Director of the Argentine-Chinese Chamber of Production, Industry, and Commerce. It also included the participation of Luciano Bolinaga, Director of the Center for Legal, Political, and Economic Studies of Asia at Universidad Austral, and Juan Bonora, Vice President of Huawei Argentina. Luciano Bolinaga highlighted that the Chinese and Argentine governments have made progress in recent years in building mutual trust as regards technology transfer. Juan Bonora emphasized Huawei's participation in the Argentine telecommunications market. He also emphasized the Chinese company's cooperation with Argentine communication providers such as Telecom, Telefónica, and Claro, but also with public entities such as the Ministry of Public Innovation, to implement corporate social responsibility programs. Some 3,000 scholarships have been awarded, as part of these programs, to provide training in 5G technology, the deployment of fiber optics, and cloud solutions.
